Cold classic industrial style VS Hot Japanese fresh style
Loft, in recent years, has become more and more popular among designers and
young people and there are many loft designs with different styles for everyone to
choose from.
But, speaking of the original loft, the original meaning in English meant
"under the roof, a loft where things are stored." The so-called LOFT now refers to
those “high open spaces that are rebuilt from old factories or old warehouses and
rarely separated by internal walls.” This meaning was born in the New York SOHO
district. Artists made it a kind of synonymous with lifestyle.
In the 1940s, to avoid the high rents required for working and living in the urban area, artists and designers in New York at the time used abandoned industrial plants and warehouses to separate the various spaces needed for living and working.
It is called the "SOHO" area and this is the earliest LOFT lifestyle.
By the late 20th century, LOFT space design gradually evolved into a fashionable
way of living and working, and it was widely spread around the world. LOFT can include art exhibition venues, offices, commercial party venues, art/design studios,
creative/cultural companies, galleries, restaurants, bars, bookstores, etc. Because its layout and tall open space are different from ordinary traditional office buildings,
it has given artists unlimited space for creation and transformation. Therefore, such an architectural “tribe” of “changing old bottles for new wine” has gradually become a gathering place for artists and fashionable young people in the city.
But in fact, most of the initial design elements of the loft are classic industrial style designs. With the influx of current trends and artistic collisions, the design elements of the loft are not restricted to classic industrial style designs.
However, as the so-called classic is always circulating, I still want to review the common industrial style elements in loft space with you today.
The classic collocation of black, white, and gray
Black, white, and gray
are very suitable for
industrial style.
Black=mysterious+cold
White=elegant+light
Mixing and matching the two can create
more levels of change.
when matching the colors of interior decoration and furniture,
choosing pure black and white gray can make the home feel more industrial!
If you don’t want your home to be too boring, you can consider adding some red or yellow small objects to decorate a small area.
It is also a good choice to put a variety of green plants on it. The strong contrast can make the space lively immediately.
Original cement wall
When you think of the concrete wall, you can't help thinking of the works of
Tadao Ando, a Japanese architect famous for his fair-faced concrete
(a sense of cleanliness and weightlessness)architecture.
Compared with the retro feeling of the brick wall, the cement wall has a more calm and modern feeling. Staying in the space constructed
by the cement, you can't help slow down, breathe the cold air, and
enjoy the quietness and beauty of the room.
If the cement wall is too cold, a brick wall can be considered.
There is nothing more representative of a New York apartment than a brick wall!
The gap between brick and brick can present different light and shadow levels from the general wall and can be painted on the brick, no matter it is painted black,
white, or gray, which can bring an old but modern visual effect to the interior,
which is very suitable for the rough atmosphere of industrial style.
Exposed pipeline
There is a key point of traditional home decoration, that is, how to arrange the pipeline configuration, how to hide, so that people can not be aware of their existence. But the industrial style decoration is the opposite. Instead of hiding all kinds of water and electricity pipelines, it is transformed into one of the visual elements of the interior through the arrangement of location and the coordination of color. This subversion of the traditional way of decoration is often the most attractive. If you do not hie the pipelines on the ceiling, you can not only have a
high-ceiling but also create an appropriate industrial style.
Lamps and bulbs
Metal framework and double joint lamps are the best things to create an industrial style. Don't underestimate their effect, because putting one on the table can bring changes to the surrounding atmosphere. Also, a bare light bulb is a necessary commodity. If you are infatuated with industrial style, you may not forget all kinds of tungsten light bulbs.
Depuley's new industrial style wall lamp series launched this season still uses the
classic metal framework in design, however, the bold choice of thick lines of iron
frame and cross scattered iron decoration; wild uninhibited, bold feeling
immediately highlighted; and then install his soul mate - tungsten light bulb, perfect!
Metal furniture
When it comes to materials of industrial style, furniture made of metal will probably be the first material presented in our minds. However, the metal style is too cool, can mix metal and wood, can keep the temperature at home, and not lose the sense of ruggedness. Especially the old and aged wood has more texture when making furniture. And among them, chairs and tabletop are the furniture that is the easiest also chooses the most. In addition to the desktop, wooden beams and columns and columns can also be one of the characteristics of indoor eye-catching.
Leather is also a good choice.
It may your furniture looks more
shine brilliantly in industrial style.
The history of human use of leather
is very long.
Now, whether in Europe and Americaor Asia, there are many old tanners
with different characteristics.
The key to matching the industrial
stylelies in the color and material of
the leather.
So being sure to choose the leather with a worn-out feeling and classic color. This classic craft as a part of
furniture can make your living
space more retro.
